Responding to the launch of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s ‘cumulative impact of tax and welfare reforms’ report, DBC Policy Group Co-Chair Laura Wetherly said:

‘The findings of this report sadly confirm what we already know – that changes to the welfare system are leaving too many people without vital support. Almost half of disabled people have lost some or all of their support after reassessment from DLA to PIP, and it’s appalling.

‘There are households losing 10% of their income every year – for people already struggling, that’s a huge dent. And the more disabled you are, the worse things are. We’re asking the Government to make urgent changes to improve the system, so it makes sense for those living with MS and other disabilities.’
